Lesson learned– Knitting needle rolls

denim and quilting cottonAbout a month ago I was asked to do a custom order of a knitting needle roll. Sure. Why not?

I’m a knitter, and I know the importance of keeping my needles organized. Not trying to imply that I actually do keep my needles organized, just that I know the importance.

Well the person that asked has distinct tastes, but she’s also rather indecisive, so I cut enough fabric to make 5 rolls, just to give her some choice. After I finished the first 2, she clarified something– something very important. She wanted something to organize her circular needles and not single pointed needles.

Wow. Okay.

I’m going to keep one (because it’s awesome) and sell one (because it’s awesome too.)

And BTW, its priced to move.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a personal vaporizer?

Also referred to as electronic cigarettes or e-cigs, a personal vaporizer (PV) is a device that delivers a vaporized fluid when drawn upon and is generally seen as an alternative to tobacco smoking.

What’s in the fluid?

Good question. American suppliers Johnson’s Creek are very upfront with their ingredient labeling:
Propylene Glycol (in the PG version)
Vegetable Glycerin (in the VG or non-PG versons)
Distilled Water
Citric Acid (less than 1%)
Vinegar (less than 1%)
As well as the various nicotine strengths or flavorings they may employ.

Other suppliers (including those that supply pre-filled cartridges or include nicotine juice with personal vaporizers and starter kits) are not always as clear with their ingredient lists, if the information is provided to me it will be included on the product page, if it is not then your guess is as good as mine.

Can a PV help me quit using tobacco products?

Personal vaporizers have not been cleared by the FDA as smoking cessation devices so no claims can be made.

Personal vaporizers are an alternative to tobacco smoking. Because some users find VPs more pleasant than cigarettes they may find themselves smoking less and vaping more.

What are the benefits of vaping?

Again, no health claims can be made concerning VPs.

However the scent of the vapor (when there is a scent) is very mild, it dissipates quickly and is not offensive. It also does not stain your teeth or leave you or your property smelling like musty cigarette smoke. VP users that have long smoked outside have found that they no longer need to remove themselves from social situations to satisfy their nicotine cravings.

Who are PVs for?

Personal vaporizers are for tobacco smokers and current nicotine users that want an alternative to smoking. PVs are not for pregnant women, people under the age of 18, or anyone that is not currently a nicotine user.

Is the sensation exactly like smoking a cigarette?

No. Taste is subjective and there are a few similarities between vaping and smoking but ultimately they are different.

First and foremost is that in order to enjoy a nice “throat hit” you’ll need to learn to not draw in vapor the same way you would draw in smoke from a cigarette filter, and the technique varies slightly between devices. Generally speaking you’ll need to take a short primer draw to warm up the atomizer (similar to the first draw when lighting a cigarette) and then a long smooth slow draw in order to take in the vapor, some models have a manual switch button instead of an automatic sensor and users may warm up the atomizer and draw—thus avoiding the “primer puff.”

Where are VPs allowed?

Any place where cigarette smoking is allowed and many places where it is not. I recommend that if you are going to vape in public on private property where smoking is not typically allowed that you do so with the blessing of the proprietor or management, so as to avoid being hassled and asked to leave because of your “smoking.”

Although I am well aware that while many VPs are marketed as a way around smoking bans, nice does matter.

Is vaping legal?

Yes, PVs and e-juice/nicotine juice are currently legal in the US.
